Southeast Asia Annecy Partners Pitches 2026

On 24 June 2026,  was Brunei Darussalam’s  first participation at the Annecy International Film Festival 2026 as part of Southeast Asia Annecy Partners Pitches 2026 programme. The Annecy International Animation Film Festival in its 66th year is recognized as the first and only Class A festival in the world devoted to animation, a status granted by the International Federation of Film Producers Associations that puts the art form on the same official footing as the biggest live action festivals and has brought together approximately 18,300 accredited attendees from 118 countries.

AITI supported one (1) local company from the digital content industry; Oddbox Media & Communications Sdn Bhd who was selected to pitch and showcase their skill and talents alongside representatives from Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam and The Philippines.  With the goal of securing support, co-production opportunities, and audience engagement, total of a hundred and thirty (130) projects from various countries were pitched during the festival. The festival also aimed to foster network among global animation industry stakeholders, explore emerging trends and technologies, continuous collaboration and distribution opportunities, benchmark international best practices, and promote digital creative capabilities within the global animation community.

Oddbox Media and Communications Sdn Bhd drew attention with their Brunei-made animation TV content, gaining interest and constructive feedbacks from international buyers, distributors and filmmakers. This participation has enabled Brunei to showcase local talents in digital content creation, exchange knowledge and expertise, explore business-matching prospects, and gain exposure to wider market access and collaboration opportunities with other industries across global regions.

During Annecy, renowned companies like Pixar presented and shared the exclusive look at their upcoming original feature; Gatto which was directed by Academy Award- nominated filmmaker Enrico Casarosa (Luca). Pixar also unveiled their brand -new animated short set in the world of Finding Nemo; Loving Dory. This shows that Brunei being an infant in this industry have a global platform to look forward to showcase new upcoming animated films at Annecy.

The presence of the Brunei delegation underscored the nation’s growing digital creative sector and its aspirations to expand into new markets and opportunities across the global regions and this aligns with AITI’s new strategic plan in developing digitally skilled ICT creatives for the next 5 years.
